iStockPicks is a clean, elegant application that helps you pick stocks to trade, and recommends trading them when technical analysis indicates that it is a good time to buy/sell.

It does this with a powerful custom "Recommendation Engine" that loads historic stock data for a given stock ticker (like "AAPL" for Apple, Inc.) calculates values like the RSI indicator, MACD, and Bollinger Bands, and then uses those indicators to suggest Buy/Sell/Neutral ratings on the stock!

This app is free to try, letting you test out its analysis without dropping the piles of money up front that other similar iPad/iPhone apps require. You get 200 free Recommendation Credits to start, and if you like it, you can buy more through in-app purchase.

Once you get a recommendation for a stock, you can touch the recommendation to get more detailed data and analysis, as well as 3-month technical charts for that ticker.

All this data is at your finger-tips - perfect for setting up lists of your favorite stocks, and doing daily scans for buys and sells!

All tickers use the Yahoo Finance format. If you can find the ticker on Yahoo Finance, it should work in iStockPicks.

Crap. Avoid.

The interface is garbage and the buy/sell indicators are based on the combined result of three industry standard indicators (that is to say free and widely available just about everywhere); RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands.

Also, there's a credits system that deducts a credit every single time you add or refresh a stock (?!) until you run out and then you have to buy more from the in-app store (which, as of this moment, isn't even functional). This is a joke, right? Does Matthew Formica actually think this is a good way to create a revenue stream?

Create a professional interface, include more indicators, offer more transparency, charge $1.99 for the app and get it moving out the door you greedy oaf!
